Gerardo Tapia is a Mexican artist who graduated from The National School of Painting, Sculpting and Engraving of the National Institute of Fine Arts. His work has traveled to countries including: France, Spain, Ireland, Germany, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Brazil and the US. It creates an instant impression, which makes his work easy to remember. His themes could be considered an expression of Mexican nationalism, but yet his work also taps into the most sensitive fibers of any observer who can feel the emotions of the characters. The intense colors make his paintings feel alive, creating a smile due to its vivid nature. The characters are born from basic shapes demonstrate his commitment to ?figurative geometry?, but resemble common characters of our society. Intense vibrations in the colors emphasize sincere happiness, a constant theme in his work. Also, the addition of a nostalgic tone overlaying beautiful scenes create a benevolent depiction of our memories. The artist transports us into a continuous chaotic struggle set in the background, with its complex visual textures all the while the kind image of the characters always prevails. There are delightful details that make life worthwhile in a tumultuous world.
